We are celebrating the 20th birthday of the Internet in Puerto Rico!! In 1989, Dr. Oscar Moreno registered the .pr. Since Gauss Research Laboratory became manager of the .pr domain name, GRL has had the unique challenge of building an infrastructure that could enable Puerto Rico's Internet expansion. Through the years, we have combined our research activities with the never ending task of improving the .pr infrastructure. As we continue to improve the functioning of the .pr domain name registry, we have also continued our involvement in research activities relating to new technologies. In the present, and thanks to our collaborators, we are involved in several initiatives which we hope will contribute to our main goals. We are collaborating with the University of Puerto Rico, with whom we have several joint research projects. Also among our collaborators is Dr. Andrew Tirkel whom, along with his company and colleagues from Australian universities, has engaged in a project building a digital watermarking method. We have also embarked in other collaborations with our new colleagues in China. These collaborations will be revealed in the near future. We hope we continue to grow as we have for the past 20 years and look forward to our future projects and initiatives which we hope, will continue playing an important role in the development of Puerto Rico.
